Mar 17, 2019 Importing coordinates using excel formula. As shown in this pic below, we have X, Y, Z coordinates, otherwise Easting, Northing & Reduced levels of more than 10000 points in an Excel sheet. To create points using this data (to Export this data into an AutoCAD drawing), we have to convert this data into the language that AutoCAD can understand. Add many efficient fields to AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT. You can import a specific cell of the Excel file or a text format file as a field. Also you can count block or calculate the area and length of multiple objects as a field. Link the AutoCAD table cells or Excel cells to AutoCAD constraint parameters.
- Open a text editor such as Notepad (ascii editor - not a word processor).
- Paste the values from the spreadsheet into the text document.
- Highlight the spaces between the two columns and right click and select Copy.
- Use the REPLACE command and paste in the spaces for the 'Find what' column and type a comma in the 'Replace with' column and select Replace All.
- At the top of the text document, type '_MULTIPLE _POINT' without the quotes.
- Save the text document with a .scr file extension.
- In AutoCAD, use the UNITS command and set the 'Units to scale inserted content' to Feet or Meters depending on how the units were measured in the field. Set the Angle Type to 'Surveyor's Units'
- Type SCRIPT at the command line and select the script file created earlier. The points will be generated. Note: you may need to press the Enter key to get out of the Point command.
